Terms of Use
These terms set out the rules for using Honicomb — the platform that lets registered Australian doctors refer patients to one another with confidence. Please read them carefully; by using Honicomb, you agree to them.
Honicomb Pty Ltd (“Honicomb”, “we”, “us”) provides a doctor-to-doctor referral network and MBS billing-support tools for registered Australian medical practitioners. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Honicomb.
01 Agreement to these terms
By creating an account, accessing or using the Honicomb website or any of its portals (together, the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you are using Honicomb on behalf of a practice or organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
02 Who can use Honicomb
Honicomb is intended solely for use by registered Australian medical practitioners and their authorised practice staff. It is not a service for patients or members of the public, and it is not a tool for obtaining medical advice. To register you must:
- hold current, unconditional or appropriately conditioned registration with AHPRA;
- provide accurate professional details, including a valid AHPRA registration number;
- be at least 18 years of age and able to form a legally binding contract; and
- use the Platform in the course of your professional practice.
Access is granted at our discretion and may require administrator approval before your account becomes active.
03 Accounts & verification
We verify the AHPRA registration and professional standing of members before granting full access. A specialist account that becomes active may be returned to a pending state for re-verification if sensitive professional details (such as AHPRA number, specialty or billing type) are changed.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use. You agree to keep your profile information accurate and up to date.
04 Referrals & clinical responsibility
Honicomb is a communication and record-keeping tool, not a provider of healthcare. Clinical judgement always rests with the treating practitioners.
The referring practitioner is responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of each referral, including obtaining any necessary patient consent to share information. The receiving specialist is responsible for assessing and actioning referrals according to their own clinical judgement and professional obligations. Honicomb does not triage, accept, decline or prioritise patients, and does not guarantee that any referral will be accepted or actioned within any timeframe.
You must only submit referral information you are authorised to share, and you must include only the clinical detail reasonably necessary for the referral.
05 MBS & AI Billing Assistant
The MBS search and AI Billing Assistant are provided to help you locate and understand Medicare Benefits Schedule items. The information they return is general in nature and may not reflect the most current MBS schedule, your specific circumstances, or all applicable rules and exceptions.
The assistant does not provide financial, legal, billing or clinical advice. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and compliance of any item you bill. Always confirm against the official MBS and Services Australia guidance before billing.
06 Subscriptions & payment
Some features require a paid subscription. By subscribing, you authorise us (through our payment provider) to charge the applicable fees to your nominated payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
- Fees & renewals — subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless cancelled before the renewal date. Prices are in Australian dollars and may include GST.
- Cancellation — you may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current paid period.
- Refunds — except where required by the Australian Consumer Law, fees are generally non-refundable for partial periods.
- Changes — we may change fees on reasonable notice, effective from your next renewal.
07 Acceptable use
When using Honicomb, you must not:
- provide false, misleading or fraudulent registration or professional information;
- access, or attempt to access, accounts, referrals or data that are not yours;
- use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in breach of your professional obligations;
- upload malicious code, scrape data, or interfere with the Platform’s security or operation;
- share your account with, or resell access to, unauthorised persons; or
- use patient information for any purpose other than the referral it relates to.
08 Intellectual property
The Platform, including its software, design, branding and content (excluding information you submit), is owned by Honicomb or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform for your professional practice in accordance with these Terms.
You retain ownership of the information you submit, and you grant us the rights necessary to host, process and display it so we can provide the Platform.
09 Privacy & data
Our handling of personal and health information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that policy and confirm you will meet your own privacy and confidentiality obligations when submitting patient information.
10 Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information returned by the MBS tools is complete or current. Honicomb does not provide medical, legal, financial or billing advice, and nothing on the Platform should be relied on as such.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11 Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Honicomb is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our total liability is limited, at our option, to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it resupplied; and in any case will not exceed the fees you paid to us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
You are responsible for your own clinical and billing decisions, and we are not liable for the acts or omissions of any other member.
12 Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your AHPRA registration lapses or is restricted, if required by law, or to protect the Platform or its members. You may stop using the Platform and close your account at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
13 Changes to the terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Platform. Continuing to use Honicomb after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
14 Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia and the State or Territory in which Honicomb is based. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State or Territory.
